Pojoda comes from an older dialect in Vis, referring to a hidden space where sailors could seek shelter during the storm. Taking on the meaning in the world of food, Restoran Pojoda offers hungry customers the perfect refuge with its delicious cuisine.
The restaurant, owned by the chef, is highly recommended by all in Vis, because of the reputation that it has garnered through years of unbeatable service – serving delicious local food with a combination of the best ingredients possible.
This is not the place to visit if you are looking for experimentation. Pojoda is all about tradition and a feeling of home, with delicious meals created on the basis of some of the most simple, homemade recipes. In fact, it can even be credited with the revival of some dishes many only enjoyed in the comfort of their homes, growing up on Vis Island.
Very good fish restaurant. Friendly staff, open in winter. Every time I visit this restaurant I feel happy and satisfied with every dish I order.

If you want to have a light meal during the day or settle down for some delicious cocktails at night, you need to look no further than the rather funky Fabrika! This cafe in Komiza offers all of the best local street food through an extensive menu.
The interior of the restaurant is a fascinating view – with mismatched chairs and furniture, thrift items, and something fun to see everywhere you look. The inside pops from almost every angle, and it is meant to be that way. Not only that, you can enjoy your meal with a nostalgic retro vibe provided by the background music.
Delicious cheeseburgers with oven baked potatoes – fresh ingredients, soft and well-toasted bun, good BBQ sauce and tasty relish. A bit expensive, but well worth your money! The staff is friendly and the place really looks nice.

Fort George is one of the biggest symbolisms of the region’s military history. First created by the British army in 1813, this fort has been a stronghold base for several nations. However, a step into the fort now and you can enjoy a lot more than the historical treasure.
The fort, after extensive remodeling, now hosts a bar, restaurant, and an events menu. This is what makes it a must-visit for anyone in Vis, as it is the perfect spot for all manner of activities.
Come to the Fort to eat some delicious local cuisine and some other seafood favorites. You can also take a step back and relax in the open space with a breathtaking view of the island, with some lovely drinks from the bar.
If you could only visit one place in Croatia it needs to be this one! We stumbled here by accident on our last roadtrip. We thought it is only a Fort you can visit, but no, you can stay here in the evening, drink wine and eat – sitting on a couch filled with huge pillows on the edge of a cliff, seeing the best sunsets you will ever see in Croatia!

Roki’s is a beloved eatery, which makes it an instant addition to this list of the best restaurants in Vis Island, Croatia! The winery and restaurant are the place to go if you want to try food cooked in the ispod peke method. This involves placing the meat, vegetables, and ingredients under a metal dome, and slow-cooking them for a few hours.
If you truly want some of the best Peke octopus, lamb, or fish, Roki’s is the right choice, You’ll have to make a reservation – in busy high season, this may even be a week in advance. However, the restaurant needs about four hours to prepare the peke meal, so keep that in mind and call ahead if you want to try true Dalmatian cuisine.
A must visit when on Vis Island! Great atmosphere, amazing wine and the best fish I have eaten in a long time! Take note to reserve before so they can prepare your fresh food of choice. We loved they also offer a pick up service for a small price which enabled us both to enjoy the wine for the evening!

On the way to Mala Travna, many boats stop to enjoy the delights of Konoba Senko. The experience is considered a slow-eating one – do not expect to come here with fast-food level service. Instead, you can take out a few hours, go for a swim, and wait for whatever has been caught that day to be prepared and served.
The restaurant is the brainchild of Senko Karuza, a well-known Croatian writer, who cooks and prepares the food himself. Meeting the author of this experience can be an experience in itself, as he is known as the ‘Robinson’ of Vis Island. The expectation from visitors is simple – leave your ideas of luxury behind, and come here for a delicious yet simple meal.
Original, absolutely worth it, an experience you won’t forget. Slowfood gathered locally. Great wine, made by Senko or other locals.

A hidden gem on the island of Vis. You need to walk a bit to this remote laguna, but the sea food is last night’s catch from local fishermen. Delicious!

If you are tired of being surrounded by water all day, why not take a trip to the middle of Vis, and catch a bite at Maxo? This restaurant is located near the small Podšpilje village and has an indoor seating area inside a small stone building. You can also enjoy food outside, under the open air, if that is more your speed!
Maxo is owned by a small family business, which means you are truly getting an authentic Vis Island feeling to the space. The owners cook, prepare, and serve food themselves, and many visitors say they can feel the love in the food! If you are a fan of local cuisine, you will definitely enjoy your time here.

Last, but definitely not least on our list is the delightful Mvesevm Vis, a combination of coffee, drinks, and amazing historical treasures! While you won’t find much food here beyond the occasional cold platter and snacks, there is still so much to enjoy about this fascinating bar and cafe.
When you enter, you are greeted by walls filled with historical elements, including military regalia. the owners can even give you a tour of the space, explaining the historical moments that each part represents. Of course, it can get busy at certain times, so you’ll need to plan your getaway keeping that in mind.
Delicious specialty coffee. Lovely little business run by the sweetest couple! Definitely go here for your morning coffee or late night vino.
